The XC40 is the smallest of Volvo's XC Range of compact luxury crossover SUVs. This 5-door SUV comes in either a front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive model with engine sizes coming in either Petrol (1.5L or 2.0L) and Diesel models having a 2.0L powertrain. Depending on the model the XC40 has either a 6-speed M76 manual, 7-speed 7DCT DCT or 8-speed AW TG-81SC automatic transmission setup. The XC40 was named Car of the Year by the magazine What Car? in January 2018, and it was given the European Car of the Year award at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
Volvo has been producing the first generation of the XC 40 SUV since 2017. Only one generation of this series has been produced so far and its reviews are already looking good. As a tow car, the Volovo XC40 is average in size compared to other cars in its class. Depending on the model of XC40, the body measures at least 1,652 millimeters in height, 1,863 millimeters in width and 4,425 millimeters in length. The wheelbase of 2,702 millimeters between the front and rear axles also corresponds to the medium-sized standard, which nevertheless has sufficient freedom of movement in the interior. The XC40 is a very spacious tow car, if you fold down the rear seats you get a boot volume of 1,336 liters. In the normal state it is a full 460 liters. The Volvo XC40 comes in range of trim variants, the availability of which varies depending on the engine.
The XC40 is available as a petrol engine, diesel engine and hybrid. The lighter the car, the less stress is put on the engine but typically the lower the towing capacity will be. Volvo XC40 Recharge Towing Capacity
Good comfort, but high consumption and low range - this is how the electric XC40 with all-wheel drive can be summarised. However there is also the single-motor variant, which looks more economical on paper. The Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric 69 kWh (231 hp) single motor is an electric drive achieves a maximum range of 422 km measured using the WLTP method. The battery capacity is 69 kWh.The single-motor is one of 9 engines in the XC40 series. The vehicle type of the XC40 is an SUV. This variant has an electric drive that delivers 231 hp or 169 kW. The Recharge Pure Electric 69 kWh Single Motor reaches its top speed at 160 km/h and the sprint to 100 km/h takes 7.4 seconds. The gear change takes place by means of an automatic transmission.
The dimensions of the XC40 are 4,425 m in length and 1,863 m in width without taking into account the exterior mirrors. Including the exterior mirrors, the width is up to 2,034 m. The height of the vehicle is 1,647 m and the ground clearance is 171 mm.
Inside there is space for up to 5 people. The trunk offers 419 litres of storage space. If the rear seat bench is folded down, the storage space increases to up to 1295 litres.
