Volkswagen (VW) T-Roc Towing Capacity & Weight Limits

Although the T-Roc is a Golf on jack stands, the SUV's external dimensions are a little larger. Regardless of length, width or height, the T-Roc takes a few centimeters off the Golf. Above all, the height of the current Golf is only 1.49 meters - and that's exactly the reason why you probably opt for the T-Roc. An elevated seating position with a better overview is one of the most compelling selling points for a compact SUV like the T-Roc.

As far as the competition is concerned, the T-Roc plays in the good midfield. The Skoda Karoq and the SEAT Ateca are a few centimeters ahead, the Audi Q2 is a little smaller and the wheelbase shows the same picture. Even if the T-Roc is an SUV, you can still see it as more or less compact, at least with a blind eye. However, what is a disadvantage compared to a real compact car is the overview to the rear. The rear roof pillars make the rear view a bit difficult and the side windows could be wider. If you prefer to ask for help here, you should definitely use the reversing camera.

If the smallest 1.0L petrol engine with 114 hp is enough, the average consumption is 5.2 litres. If the decision is made primarily based on consumption, we would recommend the 1.5-liter engine with 148 hp, because it only consumes 0.1 litres more and is significantly more agile. The top petrol engine comes with all-wheel drive and automatic transmission and delivers 188 hp, which unfortunately is also reflected in the consumption and, according to the manufacturer, an average of 6.6 litres flow out of the tank.

If you drive a lot, you might opt for a diesel. Here the T-Roc has two engines on offer. Like the entry-level petrol engine, the 1.6-liter diesel has an output of 114 hp, but consumes just an economical 4.2 litres combined. The 2.0 litre diesel engine can be selected in two performance levels with 148 and 188 hp. The top engine has a consumption of 5.0 litres of diesel per 100 kilometers.

VW has done a good job with regards to towing and has and adjusted the weight well to the size of the T-Roc. Trailers can also be towed with the compact SUV and the trailer loads are perfectly fine for this vehicle segment. If you want to pull a heavy horse trailer, it will be difficult, but the T-Roc is not designed for that either.

There may be certain models of Volkswagen T-Roc car that cannot be used to tow a trailer. These will be highlighted with 'N KG' in the below list of Volkswagen T-Roc towing weights.

For those models of VW T-Roc where towing is allowed, we have detailed the Volkswagen T-Roc towing capacity for a braked trailer (this is when the trailer being towed has its own breaking system). To ensure you are both safe and legal it is really important that you check the Volkswagen T-Roc towing weight limit for the car.

As well as providing the braked towing capacity for your Volkswagen T-Roc, where data is available we also have also listed the Volkswagen T-Roc' unbraked towing capacity.
