Here we take a look at the Volkswagen ID.4 trailer load and other technical data to understand if the VW ID.4 is a good tow car or not? After all, with the CCS fast charging connection and a theoretical range, the VW ID.4 has already attracted attention, in addition to the design, of course.
Just like the ID.3, the rear-wheel drive variants have a permanently excited synchronous motor installed on the rear axle with an output of 109 kW (148bhp) up to 150 kW (204bhp) and a maximum torque of 310 Nm. The top speed of the vehicle is electronically set at 160 km/h. A second, smaller electric motor with an output of 70 kW is added to the front axle in the GTX variant with all-wheel drive that will be available later. The system output is thus up to 220 kW. The ID.4 with all-wheel drive accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds.
VW specifies the range for the variant with a large drive battery as up to 500 km according to WLTP. This battery has an energy content of 77 kWh (net). Alternatively, a 52 kWh battery is available. The ID.4 supports AC charging via a type 2 connection with a maximum of 11 kW and DC fast charging via a CCS connector. Fast charging with 50 kW is possible as standard, optionally with up to 125 kW. Technically, the VW ID.4 is very closely related to the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Skoda Enyaq iV.

Is the VW ID.4 A Good Tow Car
While the maximum towing capacity are lower than some of its competitors, the ID.4 can function as a tow car provided its a smaller trailer or caravan and the incline is not too high, otherwise the vehicle can quickly reach its limits.The information on the roof load is rather normal, small roof boxes are possible, but you should pay attention to the contents and the total weight.
Can The Volkswagen ID.4 Tow A Caravan?
The Volkswagen ID.4 towing capacity is not outstanding and certainly not suitable for larger caravans and double horse boxes, but can still be used to pull a smaller trailer up to 750kg without brakes.The VW ID.4 scores highly with range, design and the CCS fast charging connection. With the decent range, this electric SUV can also be used as a family vehicle and, of course, thanks to charging with electricity, you are more economical on the road than with a pure combustion vehicle.
