Author: Gary WhiteThe Soul is a crossover model from the Korean car manufacturer Kia and cannot be assigned to any specific vehicle type. The boxy exterior shows cues from both minivans and SUVs. Despite some design elements with an off-road look, the Soul is only available with front-wheel drive.
The current second model generation is based on the compact car Cee'd. It was launched in the German market in 2014 and is very similar to the first one sold in 2009. But Kia attaches importance to the statement that no body part was taken over from the predecessor. The exterior length of the 4.14 meter long five-door increased moderately with the model change. A variant with an electric motor is now also available for the first time. A small facelift for the 2017 model year brings the Soul, among other things, a new top model with 204 hp.
The competitors include similarly knitted lifestyle models such as the Nissan Juke, the Citroen C3 Picasso and the Mini Countryman.
What is the towing capacity of a Kia Soul?
Depending on the year and model the Kia Soul has a maximum braked towing capacity of 1100kg (2425 pounds) or 550kg (1212 pounds) for a unbraked trailer. If there's one car manufacturer that has a great reputation for producing affordable tow cars its Kia. When they released the 2021 model of the Kia Soul there were a lot of people very interested to see how it compared to other cars in the "small tow car" market. It may not be the quickest going from 30-60mph in a leisurely 17.8 seconds which is 3 secs slower than the Volkswagen.Even tho the Kia Soul doesnt have the biggest or strongest engine, when the car was tested it was found to be reasonably stabile and in the lane-change test the Soul turned out to be one of the more stable small cars.
The biggest downside to having the Kia Soul as a tow car is its low noseweight.
Can The Kia Soul Tow a Caravan?
The Kia Soul isn't suitable for towing a full size caravan. If you own a trailer tent you will be fine.
