However, you will look in vain for a cult bubbling V8 sucker in the Expedition equipment list: the only available unit in the table is a 3.5-liter V6 – but it has a turbocharger. The Ecoboost engine delivers a respectable 358 hp and throws 569 Newton meters at 2,250 rpm onto the crankshaft. The gas response is ultra direct, the fat chunk wants to jump violently from the intersection. That's exactly how US customers like it: approach full speed and then get into the cruising rut. 97 km/h (60 miles per hour) is reached after 6.4 seconds.
A six-Speed Automatic takes care of the switching work imperceptibly. No jerking when shifting, no helpless searching for the right gear - the circuit is perfectly matched to the 3.5-liter petrol engine. And it also works when a lot of weight is hanging from the Expedition: three tons of trailer load are standard, 4.1 tons are possible with the optional trailer package.
