BMW iX Towing Capacity & Weight

The dimensions of the BMW iX are impressive. In the luxurious five-meter class, only a few electric cars cavort. This includes the Model X with a length of 5.05 meters. It remains the only electric SUV that still surpasses the iX. In terms of height and wheelbase, nobody can beat the iX. The Tesla model is also two centimeters lower here and has around three centimeters less air between the two axles. The comparison model from Ingolstadt is only 1.63 meters high, which also loses seven centimeters in terms of wheelbase.

In fact, the exterior dimensions of the BMW iX also pay off inside. The long wheelbase benefits legroom. The height of the vehicle is reflected in the headroom available to passengers. The iX and Model X are at the same height on the front seats. On the back seat, the Model X has two centimeters more to offer. However, the BMW iX remains the front-runner when it comes to width. The Tesla competition offers 1.54 meters of shoulder room at the front and is narrower at the back, so that there are only 1.44 meters left. The trunk in the BMW iX is not exactly small at 500 litres and is still disappointing in comparison.

How Much Can a BMW iX Tow?

Ultimately, the BMW iX is really convincing when it comes to the permissible trailer load. With an unbraked load of 750 kilograms, the maximum permissible load in UK has already been exhausted. If a braked trailer is towed, it can weigh up to 2.5 tons. This is the best among electric cars and even competes with many combustion models.

The Model X hangs up to 2,250 kilograms at the back. The Audi e-tron and Mercedes-Benz EQC can each pull 1.8 tons.

If you are looking for the towing capacity for a BMW iX car then we're here to help. The towing capacity is a term used to describe the maximum weight of a trailer a BMW iX car can tow. It should be clear that such a huge SUV model as the BMW iX is not necessarily the most agile. With a turning circle of 12.8 meters, however, this remains within manageable limits. The Audi e-tron (12.2 meters) does slightly smaller laps, the Tesla Model X (13.0 meters) slightly larger.

"Bigger" is the keyword for the battery capacity of the iX. The BMW is offered with two different batteries. The capacity of the 111.5 kWh battery is unparalleled. The Model X already has a really big, but still smaller battery with 100 kWh. Both the Audi e-tron (71 kWh) and the EQC (80 kWh) have completely different dimensions and are more comparable to the entry-level version of the iX.

As a result, the BMW iX achieves a maximum possible range of 630 kilometers, which also exceeds the 580 kilometers of the Model X. With a small battery, the iX is roughly on par with the Audi e-tron (341 kilometers) and Mercedes EQC (433 kilometers).

The numbers of the various weight specifications for the BMW iX can be described as massive. The competition doesn't really look any different. The Model X brings it to a comparable 2,487 - 2,562 kilograms. Despite the smaller battery, neither the e-tron (2,445 kilograms) nor the Mercedes EQC (2,495 kilograms) are noticeably lighter. The permissible total weight in this class is around three tons for almost all models.
